New Brunswick Public Sculpture has released their Call for Artist for their inaugural installation.
On July 9, 1776 a most significant event took place in New Brunswick, NJ: the “third” reading of the Declaration of Independence by Col. John Neilson. The not-for-profit organization, New Brunswick Public Sculpture, seeks qualifications from artists, art groups, artisans and/or designers to develop a life size –historically accurate – bronze figurative outdoor sculpture to celebrate this historical moment. Examples of past work must show evidence of public artwork that primarily consists of outdoor sculpture commissions. New Brunswick Public Sculpture commissions sculpture of high quality for our city to enhance the quality of life and encourage cultural tourism and commerce. This is a one-of-a-kind commission replicating Col. John Neilson reading the words our founding fathers had set forth only days earlier. Open to all artists, there is no fee to participate. Deadline: November 30, 2015.
